Brace Yourselves

High school is coming along pretty well. At least we are not slaughtered by homework (yet) and life is good so far. Can y'all believe it? We are already done with the first quarter! Now we can try to get excited for the pep rally on Friday. Remember to bring your umbrellas! Us freshmen are not getting pelted by who-knows-what this year.

moody beach vibes

the beach is an amazingly magical place. and I feel like as summer ends and the cooler seasons begin, it takes on a much more deep and mysterious vibe. there are the crashing waves. windy breezes. and a moody vibe that brings out the energy inside of you.
piers are like windows and walkways into neptunes kingdom. you can just walk straight through, and when you get to the end, a huge whirl of wind and seawater comes, and transformed the landscape into a majestic underwater kingdom filled of mermen and mermaids and sea creatures and wonderful colorful fish.
if summer is ending and the water is cooling, then so be it. i like these moody beach vibes more than hot sunburns and bright bikinis. so bring it on, neptune

things i love

the little things that bring joy to my heart..

clouds, of any kind
the smell of rain
patterned umbrellas
big and warm sweaters
the sound of waves on the beach
spontaneous acts of kindness
waking up to bright sun rays
a certain shade of peach
music
typewriters
a cup of tea
chords and notes that fit together magically
foggy mornings
fuzzy socks
drawing with a pencil
leaves rustling in the wind
old things with history
people who make you laugh
dew on grass
dancing in public
metaphors
new sheets
soft pillows
glasses with bangs
deep breaths
small children
swings in playgrounds
strangers who say hello
the dusty smell of books
dogs who seem to smile
record players
garage sales and old possessions
vintage books
the sound of airplanes
animals
people who can juggle
fresh flowers
sunlight streaming through windows
bokeh
dirt stuck under fingernails
confidence
laughing
butterflies
taking off in airplanes
sandals
old photographs
campfires and s'mores
children's songs
birds flying above your head
sunsets

there's 50

First Day Of LJHS

I don't know about all of you, but I think something needs to be posted that celebrates this amazing achievement. If I did my math right, I'm pretty sure that we've spent close to 10,800 hours in school. Anyways, let's hope that we can survive this school year with good grades and teachers that are not too annoyed with us.

A Really Beautiful Poem by Me

What does the fire sound like? Let me tell you

When you're home alone, and the house is quiet

At first it whispers, but then it hisses

It spits and dances, upward

Defying gravity

The water bubbles and pops, but that is the fire's sound

It vents air in a constant stream, under the lid of the pot

Like a wind in the forest that never dies

And when you remove the lid, it exhales

aaaaaaahhhhhhh

It twists, it dares you

pop, pop, pop

Water boils

You add the pasta

It quiets

ssssssssssssss

But not to be subdued, it rises again

Slowly and with anger

It pits the pasta and the water against each other in a noisy duel

pop, splash, swish as you stir

You feel the heat

Literally

Bright and hot, the fire threatens you

But you cannot turn it off yet

Until

beep, beep, beep

The timer liberates you

One big step (thunk), one twist of the wrist

With a few final plops, the fire dies

You win

The final whooooosh of the pasta being drained

The mark of your victory

Mankind's victory

And now the house is quiet
